This is a relatively recent qualitative method in the field of social science aimed at observing, interacting with and understanding people in the environment, resulting in raw data. It requires the research to be carried out directly on the community we are investigating and the physical participation of the researcher. This helps to better understand the phenomenon being investigated and to gain an insight into the environment that would be impossible to carry out under controlled conditions. In field research we can use observation methods (participatory observation or shadowing), free interview or storytelling.
