For the first time in the history of the iF Design Award, the Service Design and UX award in the Health category went to a Polish agency.
The winning project #HumanBehindEveryNumber was commissioned by Berlin-based KCR CRO company and was awarded in the Professional Concept discipline — innovation design, service concept.
We received the oldest award in the world of design, awarded for 65 years by iF International Forum Design GmbH.
#HumanBehindEveryNumber
#HumanBehindEveryNumber is a research and design project. Its goal is to create the clinical trial concept of the future, in which the patient is treated as a customer, and the clinical trial is seen as a medical service. Our agency used the Service Design method and UX Design tools to execute the project.
We led the project in six countries and recruited patients and experts with which we conducted interviews and workshops.
Together we:
- Recreated the patient's path during the clinical trial
- Mapped the emotions accompanying patients at each stage of the service
- Studied cultural differences
- Conducted an ethnographic study
- Produced several dozen hours of videos
- Created a video platform.
This online platform presents and categorizes the results of our work in the form of patient stories. We collected ideas from experts from Harvard Medical School, Tufts Medical Center, and CISCRP. These materials are available at humanbehindeverynumber.com. We have also proposed a number of improvements to the process of providing the service, which we hope will influence the future of clinical trials worldwide.
IF Design Award for Service Design and UX Design
This year, over 6,400 projects from 54 countries were submitted for the award. Our project was evaluated by a jury of 63 experts from around the world. We've been recognized alongside companies such as Apple, Samsung, Philips, BMW, Huawei, and many others.
Professional Concept is a discipline in which experimental and conceptual projects compete, ideas that have not been published yet, research projects, and innovations. You can see the case with our project on the iF Design Award's website.
